Neriak is a dark beautiful city carved out of the very bones of the earth, deep under the forest of Nektulos. The multileveled tunnels that make up the basic connecting structure of Neriak were originally carved by meandering underground rivers that sprang from Lake Neriuss when its levels were higher. Later, they were widened and carved into a beautiful, dark, secret city by the magic of the dark elves, named in their own language as "Teir'Dal." Everything in this city is carved from the same dark stone, but minerals give it different colors. The dark elves are ruled by King Naythox Thex and his queen, Cristanos. Though it is not commonly acknowledged, the kings of the high elves and dark elves share a common lineage, as once all elves were related.
The Third Gate of Neriak is the domain of the Teir'Dal nobility and the seat of government. As such, there is very little commerce in this area. Those who are not of Teir'Dal lineage – even those who have amply demonstrated their allegiance to the dark elves – are not welcome. While access is not limited to those of noble blood, commoners are looked down upon by all of the residents. It is here that one may witness the true, horrific beauty of Teir'Dal architecture and the magnificence of their arcane abilities, which are reflected in almost every details of the subterranean quarter[1].

Dangers
Any who are not of Teir'Dal lineage - even those who have amply demonstrated their allegiance to the dark elves - are not welcome in the final gate of Neriak. Should any non-Teir'Dal dare to venture into these sacred halls, they are advised to do so under a clever guise that make them appear to be Teir'Dal. Those who do not have such abilities at their disposal are strongly urged to avoid this region of the city.
Benefits
Teir'Dal Clerics, Necromancers, Shadowknights, and Rogues venture this far into Neriak to visit their respective guild halls. However, other casters often come this way to pick up spells and reagents. For example, Wizards might visit the cleric guild to pick up a Fuligan Soulstone of Innoruuk which is a required reagent for Alter Plane: Hate (which is sold in the library). The Library of K'Lorn provides Wizard teleport spells, Magician summon spells, and Enchanter enchant spells. Lastly, this area also provides somewhat limited vendor and equipment for several tradeskills. These include Baking, Blacksmithing, Brewing, Jewelcraft, and Tailoring (see Tradeskill Facilities below).
Traveling To and From
Neriak Third Gate can only be reached by first making it through the Foreign Quarter and then the Commons. It is by far the most restricted part of the city, and it is exceedingly rare that any outsiders are permitted to venture this deep into the underground city.

Shops and Points of Interest
The Maiden's Fancy is one of the most notorious bars in all of Norrath - but only the most favored among the Teir'Dal's allies are ever allowed to go this deep into Neriak to experience it first hand. Customers here can pay gold coin for a dance.
Library of K'Lorn [3]
Neriak's library hosts a vast catalogue of spells for Enchanters, Wizards, and Mages that are otherwise unavailable in their guildhall at the Tower of the Spurned in Neriak Commons.
Guilds in Neriak's Third Gate
Lodge of the Dead
The most noble and honored of the Teir'Dal guilds resides in a foreboding crimson structure surrounded by thick walls and guarded by undead servants. The Lodge of the Dead, perhaps one of the most iconic structures in Neriak, is home to the most feared and respected castes in Teir'Dal society - the Shadowknights and Necromancers of Innoruuk. These deadly practitioners of the dark arts give their unwavering loyalty to Cristanos Thex, the former Duchess of The Dead, the current Queen of Neriak, and the highly respected wife of King Naythox Thex.
Spires (Temple) of Innoruuk
The second most revered and important of structures in the whole of Neriak are the Spires of Innoruuk - the sacred temple of the Prince of Hate which is governed by the Priests of Innoruuk. Surrounded by a moat, it is hard to miss the Cleric guild as you enter from Neriak - Commons. The priests typically remain out of political affairs, though out of respect for the royal name of "Thex," they give the king their political loyalty. On the other hand, they will take action if and when politics interfere with the divine purpose and trials of the Teir'Dal people beneath the banner of Innoruuk.
Hall of the Ebon Mask
The final guildhall in the third gate is that of the Rogues, the Hall of the Ebon Mask. They are held in somewhat lower regard than the Indigo Brotherhood of warriors and The Spurned wizards. Their home is stationed int he deepest confines of the city so that they may be closely watched by the more trusted houses of necromancers and priests.

Miragul's Highway
One of the most interesting mysteries related to this part of the city is a seemingly innocuous looking firepot near the back of the city one ramp over from the J'Narus private mansion. It requires a key to unlock, but nobody has ever found it. They say that those who are able to bypass the lock can use this firepot to make a one-way trip to the Tier'Dal camp in the The Lesser Faydark. This is believed to have been part of Miragul's Highway - the magical portals that Miragul used to facilitate his research into necromancy, lichdom, and the discovery of magical artifacts. Miragul's Highway is usually associated with the firepot room found at the bottom of Timorous Deep (located at -12260, +4365, -277.)[4]. This firepot was one of many secretive portals for evil races to travel safely across Norrath. There are also similar firepots in the Abandoned Heretic building in Toxxulia Forest which supposedly leads to the Qeynos Aquaducts. [5][6]
