The Plane of Hate is home to Innoruuk and his numerous minions.

The realm that has become the common manifestation of the divine energies, presence, and consciousness of Innoruuk is a twisted, dark urban setting encased in towering black walls of sharp, ghastly architecture. There is no open space here, only dark alleys and abandoned buildings. There are no safe havens on this plane for anyone - inhabitants and unfortunate "guests" alike.

Spiral ramps chaotically reach out from the stone-carved ground, leading up to the topmost levels of a sprawling, enclosed citadel of malevolence and unbiased scorn. A ghastly forest of grand pillars made of black wood and stone spiral down from the ceiling and pierce through the ground. The overall effect is one of connfusion and suffocation, making the plane a very disconcerting place for even for the the bearer of the most evil and malignant of hearts.

This plane is inhabited by the most insidious creatures imaginable, including some very powerful undead who are partial to the energies that emrge from Innoruuk's presence within the cosmos. Most of these creatures are mirrored in their appearance to other beings upon the prime that many might identify, yet their true forms are likely beyond anything imagined by even the most wretched of necromancers.[1]

Dangers

Woe to any traveler who dares enter the Plane of Hate, the astral home to the divine father of spite and malevolence, Innoruuk. Many Teir`Dal have come to the Plane of Hate in hopes of paying homage to their divine father and perhaps glean some knowledge from him in exchange for their undying devotion, only to find themselves slaughtered at the hands of his merciless minions. The Prince of Hate and his followers hold an unrivaled hatred for all things in the cosmos and will show neither mercy nor interest in any creature regardless of their intent.

Travelers to the Plane of Hate who dare to cross the barrier separating the divine realms from the material are urged to bring with them an army of iron-willed companions of great power and strength.[1]

Benefits

Loot. The following gear drops off of "yard trash", that is to say non-raid encounter mobs in PoH.

Editor's Note: FV Project Kunark server does not have Legionnaire Scale Armor for Iksar Warriors because that was introduced during the Scars of Velious expansion (Warrens Era) with the Hate 2.0 revamp (14 March 2001 patch on EQ Live).

Traveling To and From

The Plane of Hate can only be reached via the wizard spell Alter Plane: Hate, and requires the reagent Fuligan Soulstone of Innoruuk. The stone is sold by Dvis Zexus, the coffin vendor in the dark elf cleric guild, Neriak - Third Gate. Minimum price for it is 210pp. Any character below level 46 will not be able to enter the Plane of Hate (the portal will leave them behind).

Lore

The Plane of Hate officially opened after a GM event, "The Battle of Bloody Kithicor" in Kithicor Forest on Halloween - Sunday night, 31 October 1999. The patch message on 3 November 1999 referenced this date and event in the notes. This was the infamous event that caused the undead to spawn at night in this cursed forest that we all have come to dread as low level players trying to make the run toward Freeport.

Historical Release and Revamp Dates

  • The Plane of Hate was first released during Classic, eight months after initial game release, on November 3, 1999 marking the transition from the Temple of Solusek Ro era to the Plane of Hate era.
  • February 17, 2000 - while this patch claims a teleporter was added to Plane of Hate, research from players indicates there is no evidence this actually occurred[2]. It may have been a typo that meant Plane of Fear, referring to the exit out of fear in the temple.
A teleporter has been placed within the Plane of Hate in order to give non-casters a way out of the zone besides death, potion, or group teleport.
*The Plane of Hate*
The Plane of Hate has received an item-drop/spawn-time revamp. Take
care in your exploration of this zone as many things have changed.
  • The first revamp occurred on March 14, 2001 during the 2nd expansion, Scars of Velious. The Plane of Fear was revamped during the same patch as well.
  • The second revamp occurred during the Legacy of Ykesha expansion in the May 14, 2003 patch (All Servers), and April 8, 2003 for Stormhammer which was the "Legends" server.
